NPA: DFM100 Difference Frequency Module

ERD is proud to introduce the DFM100 Difference Frequency Module, a high-precision digital heterodyne down-converter designed for applications requiring frequency difference extraction.

With dual 3.3V CMOS inputs supporting frequencies from 200 kHz to 100 MHz, the DFM100 outputs a clean intermediate frequency (IF) between 10 Hz and 25 kHz, making it ideal for high-resolution frequency analysis and digital signal processing.

Key Features

🔹 Dual Input Design – Accepts two 3.3V CMOS signals in the 200 kHz – 100 MHz range and outputs their difference frequency.

🔹 Low-Frequency IF Output – Passes 10 Hz – 25 kHz IF signals

🔹 FM Information Retention – Selectively preserves FM content while suppressing AM fluctuations for superior signal fidelity.

🔹 Ultra-Low Power – Consumes under 250 mW at 100 MHz input.

🔹 Compact & Embeddable – 1” x 1” through-hole package enables seamless integration into space-constrained designs.

🔹 Stable 3.3V CMOS Output – Provides a fast-rising square wave with a typical 50% duty cycle, maximizing compatibility with digital processing systems.

Evaluation Board for Rapid Prototyping

For streamlined testing and integration, ERD offers an evaluation board with sockets for the DFM100, providing convenient SMA connections for: Vcc Power Input, RF Input 1, RF Input 2, and DFM100 Output.

This allows users to quickly evaluate performance in their system without additional wiring or breakout components.

Designed for Precision Applications

The DFM100 is an essential component for systems requiring high-resolution frequency differentiation and signal processing, including:

  • High-Resolution Frequency Counters
  • Digital Signal Processing & Communications
  • Defense & Aerospace Systems
  • Low-Frequency Radar & Telemetry

Seamless Integration & Customization

The DFM100 simplifies system design by incorporating input conditioning, RF mixing, low-pass filtering, and output conditioning into a single module, reducing the need for external components and ensuring high-precision difference frequency extraction.
