Thermal Hysteresis
Note: Price shown above is budgetary pricing for a screen over one bidirectional temperature run (-40 to +85 °C) with 1° C per minute ramp rate and dwells of 30 minutes at temperature extremes. Please contact us for pricing inquiries for hysteresis testing services. Price varies based on package size, quantity, temperature range, and ramp rate.
Similar to frequency-versus-temperature performance screening, thermal hysteresis looks at an oscillator's frequency-versus-temperature characteristic over the specified operational range in a bidirectional manner. All quartz crystal oscillators have some amount of thermal hysteresis. This is due to a combination of the resonator and the thermal design of the oscillator (mainly thermal coupling between the resonator and temperature sensor). Excessive thermal hysteresis can cause system-level problems and should be evaluated to ensure compliance. We perform thermal hysteresis testing on virtually any electronic oscillator. Custom test fixtures and test profiles can be created to support any customer footprint and temperatures ranging from -60 C to +200 C.
