Trim Effect is a skewing of an oscillator's frequency versus temperature performance as a function of control voltage.  All quartz crystal oscillators with frequency pulling suffer from some amount of trim effect.  This is due to the nature of the oscillator circuit: Frequency pulling is created by changing the voltage on a hyper-abrupt varactor that is in the feedback loop of the oscillator.  This change in capacitance results in a change in load "C" on the crystal.   The crystal's frequency versus temperature characteristic changes as a function of load "C".  Trim effect can cause system-level problems and should be evaluated to ensure compliance. We perform trim effect testing on virtually any electronic oscillator.  Custom Test fixtures and test profiles can be created to support any customer footprint and temperatures ranging from -60 C to +200 C.
